The UHC Roundup is an online publication that compiles news articles and events related to unwanted horses. It highlights UHC member programs and success stories spanning all breeds, disciplines, and regions. If you wish to share your story of unwanted horses becoming wanted again, contact the UHC at uhc@horsecouncil.org.

UHC Members Meeting
The UHC hosted its annual meeting in conjunction with the American Horse Council’s Annual Meeting and National Issues Forum in Washington DC on Monday, June 12th.  UHC member organizations and guests heard program updates, reviewed survey results and discussed the coalition’s objectives for the upcoming year. Stay tuned for updates on the future path of the UHC, and what new programs and initiatives we are thinking of next!

His wonderful demeanor and overall adorableness brings out smiles in all who meet his acquaintance!"


SaddleBox, a Monthly Subscription Box for Horse Owners

SaddleBox, a monthly subscription box for horse owners, has seen remarkable success since launching this year. But its founder, Phil Van Treuren, says he never expected to start an equine-related company.

"I hadn't even touched a horse until six years ago," said Van Treuren. "That was when my daughter, Sophie, told us she wanted to learn how to ride."

SaddleBox owner Phil Van Treuren with his wife Sharon and daughter Sophie.Today, Van Treuren and his family spend at least an hour every day with their horse, Dash, in Ohio. The idea for SaddleBox grew from the passion they've developed for all things equine.
